Leela was a teacher by profession. However, she did not like the job very much. She came from a background of people who gave first preference to education. Leela’s father was an English professor. Hence, when Leela entered the Bollywood industry, she already was a graduate. After completing her studies, she joined a drama troupe, from where her acting career began and she became a part of Bollywood in the 1930s.
