With Adampur Air Force visit, PM Modi fact checks Pakistan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Tuesday morning visit to Adampur Air Force base was primarily meant to underline the dominance of Indian air defence systems and to send a firm message to Pakistan that IAF bases were not just intact, but buzzing with VIP activity.

The message to Pakistan was clear considering Adampur is one of the 26 targets the Pakistani military claimed to have destroyed during Operation Sindoor, although satellite images that came through later debunked that claim completely.

The Indian military commanders had said yesterday that all Indian Air Force bases are secure.

PM’s visit underscored that line of the armed forces by visiting the Adampur base, interacting with officers and soldiers, and chanting from the grounds of a key defence base “Bharat Mata Ji Jai."

The PMO released pictures and videos of the visit after Pakistan newspaper Dawn quoted Pakistan Army’s chief spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry as saying: “The 26 targets of Pakistani military in India included air force and aviation bases such as Suratgarh, Sirsa, Adampur, Bhuj…."

After the visit, PM posted on X, “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation."

Information and Broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, sharing pictures of the visit, said “Fact-check for Pakistan who claims attack on Adampur Air Base. PM @narendramodi Ji interacted with our brave Jawans.🇮🇳 📍Adampur Air Base, Punjab."

All top ministers shared pictures.

Adampur Air Force base houses the Russian-made S-400 missile defence systems that intercepted and thwarted Pakistan military attacks on India during Operation Sindoor.
