CBSE results: Girls a class apart again

Girls have outshone boys once again in the Class XII Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination by grabbing the top positions in three streams in the tricity.
Shreya Garg, a student of KB DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 7, topped the commerce stream with 99.4 per cent marks, while Akshita Jain of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, secured 99.2 per cent to top the non-medical stream. Aarav Goel of Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School, Sector 38, topped in the medical stream with 99 per cent marks. Charmi of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, is the humanities topper with a score of 98.8 per cent.
As many as 10,194 boys and 9,317 girls registered for Class XII, of whom 10,147 (boys) and 9,287 (girls) appeared for the exam. As many as 9,026 boys and 8,642 girls passed the exam. While the total passing percentage was recorded at 90.91 per cent — 88.95 per cent boys and 93.05 per cent girls.
“It’s a great honour to have the topper from our school. The Chandigarh results are outstanding and we are so proud of Shreya’s diligent efforts and her commitment,” said Pooja Prakash, Principal of KB DAV School.
Students of govt schools shine
The 42 government senior secondary schools of Chandigarh have recorded a rise of 0.10 per cent in the overall result, with 88.79 pass percentage as compared to 88.69 in 2023-24. This year, eight schools have posted 95 per cent and above result. These include three periphery area schools of Mauli Jagran, Raipur Kalan and Khuda ali Sher. A total of 225 students from various government schools secured 90 per cent and above marks, of whom 29 scored 95 per cent and above. In the medical stream,
Arzoo Ahluwalia of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Mani Majra Housing Complex, topped with 97.20 marks, while Jayant Kumar of GMSSS, Sector 16, scored 97.20 percent to top the medical stream. In commerce, Sneha of GMSSS, Sector 8, topped with 97.40 per cent. Aditya of GMSSS, Sector 16, is humanities topper with 97.80 per cent. “This is the first batch admitted under the new admission policy of the Chandigarh Administration for government schools,” said Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, Director, School Education
