Crackdown: Cops issue 136 challans, impound 30 vehicles

In a push to improve road safety and enforce traffic rules, Commissionerate Police, Jalandhar, carried out a three-day traffic enforcement drive across the city, checking over 580 vehicles, issuing 136 challans and impounding 30 vehicles for various violations.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officers, including ADCP, Traffic, Gurbaz Singh, SHO Division Numbers 6 and 7, and Zone-3 Incharge. ACP North Aatish Bhatia, along with SHOs of Division Numbers 1 and 8, also took part in the enforcement activities. The Emergency Response System (ERS) and Field Media Team (FMT) played key roles in ensuring smooth operations and public awareness during the drive.

Strategic nakabandi checkpoints were set up in busy marketplaces and at major intersections. Police teams issued challans for a wide range of traffic offences, including 25 for triple riding, 20 for riding without helmets, 22 for vehicles without number plates, 18 for illegal black film on car windows, 15 for modified Bullet motorcycles and six for driving without a valid licence.

Officials said 30 vehicles impounded during the drive were found to be lacking proper documentation. The police emphasised that such enforcement activities reflect a zero-tolerance stance toward rule violations and are aimed at promoting a culture of safe and responsible driving.

The Commissionerate Police said the drive had a visible impact on traffic discipline in the city and reiterated their ongoing commitment to ensuring public safety and accident-free roads.
