A video shared by an Indian software engineer working in Sweden has started a discussion online after he mentioned the employee benefits offered by Swedish companies. The perks available in Sweden companies were attractive for netizens. Indians also found facilities given in the country very less and debated over it on the viral video.
Perks In Sweden Companies
Ashutosh Samal, an Indian-origin software developer shared the video on Instagram wherein he has listed the benefits full-time employees receive in Sweden. Employees can take 30 days of paid leave annually. Employees can also take half-days before public holidays.Leave is considered as a right and no need to take several approvals.
New employees receive a laptop and the latest iPhone. Swedish companies also give allowances between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 annually for gym memberships, massages, and other wellness expenses. Remote workers can get allowances ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 for setup at home.

Employees receive approximately Rs 10,000 per month for meals. Parents can avail 480 days of paid leave with 80% salary compensation. In case of job loss, unions provide financial support for six to nine months.
Companies also allow employees to leave early during summer months. Employees can lease cars at discounted rates through corporate programs.
Debate Among netizens
The video sparked debate among netizens where one user said “Leave is a right in Sweden, but here [in India], you need to convince your manager first.”
Another said. ‘’This is mostly same if you are in non Indian MNCs working in India location also .. apart from the union benefit .. In India corporate union needs to be more strong.’’
Another iser disagreed with the amount mentioned by him and said, ‘’Yes, it’s nice there. But why are you converting the money to Indian rupees? That can be misleading’’
