In a significant boost for Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the engineering and construction giant has bagged two major state-backed infrastructure projects in New Delhi and Andhra Pradesh worth around Rs 5,000 crore. In a press release, the company said it has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) order from the Central Public Works Department to build Common Central Secretariat buildings 6 and 7 in national capital New Delhi.

As per the statement, under the EPC order, the company will construct two buildings, each comprising one basement, two podiums, an upper ground floor, and six additional floors. The contract includes civil structure, finishes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, external development, and five years of operations and maintenance, the company said.

L&T has also bagged a design-and-build contract from the Andhra Pradesh government to construct the State Legislative Assembly building, with the proposed structure comprising a basement, ground floor, and three additional floors, it said, adding that both contracts have an 18-month completion timeline.

The projects fall under L&T’s ‘large’ category, which are valued between Rs 2500 to Rs 5000 crore, according to the company.

L&T stocks surge after Q4 results

Notably, the shares of Larsen & Toubro jumped nearly 4 percent on Friday after the infrastructure major reported a 25 percent increase in consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) for the quarter ended March 2025.

As per market data, L&T’s stock climbed 3.77 per cent to settle at Rs 3,445.70 on the BSE, surging 4.72 percent during the day to Rs 3,477.55. At the NSE, the stock jumped 3.83 per cent to close at Rs 3,451.40. Intra-day, shares of the firm rallied 4.60 per cent to Rs 3,477.

Meanwhile, L&T shares dipped 0.43 per cent at Rs 3,571.25, while the Sensex was down 1.47 per cent at 81,218.45 points on Wednesday.
