'They're Killing Poor Kids': Ben Cohen, Co‑Founder Of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Arrested After Disrupting US Senate Hearing With Pro-Gaza Protest (VIDEO)

Washington DC: Ben Cohen, Co‑founder of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, was arrested on Wednesday (local time) at a US Senate committee hearing. Cohen also posted the video of the incident on his X handle. The hearing included testimony from Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Six other people were also arrested along with Cohen for protesting against the United States supporting Israel in the war in Gaza.

In the video, which is going viral, it could be seen that several people stood up and started shouting “RFK kills people with AIDS" slogan as soon as Kennedy started to deliver his speech. A few moments later, Cohen stood up and accused the US Congress of playing an important role in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of Children.

As soon as the protesters, including Cohen, raised slogans, Senator Bill Cassidy asked that Capitol Police remove them from the hearing room, reported NBC News. Police officers then removed the Co‑founder of Ben & Jerry's ice cream and six others from the room. They were reportedly charged with crowding, obstructing and incommoding. For the unversed, it is unlawful to protest inside congressional buildings.

Cohen also posted the video of his arrest on his X handle. While sharing the video, he wrote, "I told Congress they're killing poor kids in Gaza by buying bombs, and they're paying for it by kicking poor kids off Medicaid in the US. This was the authorities' response.

In the video, the Co‑founder of Ben & Jerry's ice cream could he heard repeatedly accusing Congress of killing kids in Gaza by helping Israel. “Congress kills poor kids in Gaza by buying bombs and pays for it by kicking kids off Medicaid in the U.S.,” Cohen said as quoted by NBC News. He was taken away by the police.

Cohen also said that Congress was not letting food into Gaza. He was later released by the police.

Meanwhile, Ben and Jerry’s have not commented on the incident so far. Notably, the company was critical of the Israeli government.
