Lokayukta Cracks Down On 7 Karnataka Officials In Massive Corruption Raids
In a crackdown on corruption, Karnataka Lokayukta on Thursday carried out coordinated raids across more than two dozen locations in the state, targeting seven government officials accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to their income.

The simultaneous searches spanned properties in Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Mangaluru, and surrounding areas, with over 24 premises—including homes, offices, and other establishments—under scrutiny. Initial estimates indicate the recovery of assets exceeding Rs 26.5 crore, including large cash reserves, documents, and other valuables, reported The Hindu.
The officials under investigation include: Rajashekar, Project Director, Nirmiti Kendra, Tumakuru, Manjunath, Survey Supervisor, Dakshina Kannada, Renuka Satarle, Officer, Dr BR Ambedkar Abhivruddhi Nigama, Vijayapura, Murali TV, Additional Director, Directorate of Urban and Rural Planning, Bengaluru, HR Nataraj, Inspector, Legal Metrology Department, Bengaluru, Anant Kumar, Second Division Assistant, Hoskote Taluk Office and Umakanth, Taluk Officer, Shahpur, Yadgir, as reported by Deccan Herald.
According to Lokayukta, the investigation was initiated following multiple complaints alleging corrupt practices. A preliminary inquiry revealed discrepancies in the declared incomes and actual wealth held by the officials and their close associates.
The raids were launched at dawn and carried out under the oversight of superintendents of police and included teams comprising deputy superintendents, inspectors, and auxiliary staff. Search teams were deployed to 12 sites in Bengaluru city, eight in its rural district, seven in Tumakuru, five in Yadgir, and four each in Mangaluru and Vijayapura, reported Times of India.
Separate cases have been registered against each individual under the Prevention of Corruption Act at respective Lokayukta police stations. Authorities are continuing to assess seized documents and valuables as part of the ongoing investigation.
