Breaking News: Local Terrorist Killed, Two Trapped as Security Forces Launch Major Operation in Tral, J&K | Abp news

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have launched a major anti-terror operation in Tral, where one local terrorist has been killed and two others are still believed to be hiding inside a residential house. The operation began after intelligence inputs suggested the presence of three militants in the area, prompting forces to cordon off the locality and evacuate civilians from nearby homes. The slain terrorist has been identified as Aasif, a local militant whose name is also on the list of 14 active terrorists released after the Pahalgam attack. The remaining two—Amir and Yawar—are also local and believed to be hiding in the same house. Security forces tried to get them to surrender earlier in the morning, but the militants opened fire, triggering a fierce encounter. According to police, this is the second major encounter in South Kashmir in recent days. Earlier, three Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives, including their operational chief, were killed in Keller, Pulwama. Forces are now focused on eliminating the remaining names on the 14-militant list, even as an estimated 70-80 foreign terrorists remain active in the Valley. The operation in Tral is still ongoing, with QRTs preparing for a room-to-room intervention to neutralize the remaining militants.
