Samsung's 2025 Foldables Go Slimmer, Sharper, Sleeker — Fold 7 May Outshine Even The Galaxy S25 Ultra
Samsung appears ready to shake up the foldable phone game once again. Fresh leaks suggest that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will sport some of the slimmest bezels in the market — potentially even beating Samsung’s own Galaxy S25 Ultra. With a bold design refresh and powerful internals, the foldables are set to be the showstoppers at Samsung’s July 2025 Unpacked event.
Fold 7 Aims to Be World’s Slimmest Foldable
According to tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could launch as the world’s thinnest foldable phone, thanks to bezels shrinking down to just 1mm. For perspective, that's slimmer than both the Galaxy S25 Ultra's 1.32mm and last year’s Z Fold 6's 1.9mm bezels. The redesigned dimensions — 158.4 x 143.1mm when unfolded — allow for a roomier 8.2-inch inner AMOLED display, a clear jump from the 7.6 inches offered on its predecessor.
CAD renders shared by OnLeaks and AndroidHeadlines show off a taller and wider profile, hinting at Samsung's focus on maximising screen real estate without bulk. Powering the device will likely be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, coupled with a headline-grabbing 200MP main camera, as noted by leaker @TheGalox_ on X.
Flip 7 Gets a Cover Display Glow-Up
The clamshell-style Galaxy Z Flip 7 isn’t being left behind in this design overhaul. It features outer screen bezels trimmed to 1.2mm, enabling a larger 4-inch cover display — a notable upgrade over the Z Flip 6's 3.4-inch screen. The main screen is also getting a size boost, expanding to 6.85 inches, while the folded form becomes sleeker at just 6.9mm thick.
Both the Fold 7 and Flip 7 are expected to ship with Android 16 layered with One UI 8, delivering Samsung's latest software polish. Despite all the high-end specs, the Fold 7’s 4,400mAh battery might feel slightly dated in 2025, especially considering the industry-wide shift toward high-density silicon-carbon batteries, which offer more juice without added bulk.
Premium Polish, But Is It Enough?
The upcoming foldables are also rumoured to feature IP68 water and dust resistance, and refinements aimed at reducing screen creases — issues that have often plagued foldables. If true, this could mark another leap in durability and usability for the segment.
Still, questions remain. Can thinner bezels and bigger screens alone make Samsung’s 2025 foldables the gold standard, or will competition from brands like Oppo and its Find N5 push the bar even higher?
As the July launch nears, excitement is building. But until we see them in the flesh (and in the fold), the final verdict remains... folded.
