Man Strangles Father, Stages Electrocution; CCTV Footage Reveals Murder Plot

The police in Karnataka’s Kunigal town have arrested a 21-year-old man for the murder of his father. The crime, initially thought to be a death due to accidental electrocution, came to light after CCTV footage revealed a calculated attempt to cover up the strangulation murder.

The Crime

The victim, 58-year-old Nagesh, was initially believed to have died from accidental electrocution inside the Apollo Ice Cream Factory on May 10. However, investigations took a dramatic turn when CCTV footage from inside the factory surfaced, reported India Today.

The footage showed a violent altercation in which Nagesh is seen slapping and beating his son Surya with a slipper and a stick. In a sudden escalation, Surya, holding a white cloth, seized the moment when his father turned his back, strangling him from behind and forcing him to the ground. A second individual, later identified as Surya’s friend Dhanush, reportedly helped subdue and kill the elderly man.

Staged Electrocution To Mask Murder

In an attempt to stage the murder as an accident, the duo then placed Nagesh’s body on a bed and administered electric shocks to his fingers, aiming to mislead investigators into believing he died by electrocution, as per a report on NDTV.

Initial police assessments leaned towards an accidental cause of death. However, inconsistencies in the injuries and scene prompted further scrutiny. The CCTV evidence proved pivotal in uncovering the truth.

Police arrested Surya, and shortly after, his accomplice Dhanush was also detained. A murder case has been registered at the Kunigal Police Station, and officials are continuing their investigation to determine the full motive behind the brutal killing.

Authorities are also looking into any history of domestic abuse or longstanding conflict within the family that may have led to the crime.
