Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Crime: 8 Kgs Of Gold & 40 Kgs Of Silver Worth Rs 8 Crore Stolen In Daring Robbery—Watch Shocking Visuals Of Heist
Six armed robbers threatened the caretaker of an industrialist’s house in Bajajnagar with a pistol and made off with gold and silver jewellery worth around Rs 8 crore. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 15 (Thursday).
Industrialist Santosh Laddha and his wife Rakhi Laddha live in Sector RL in Bajajnagar in the Waluj industrial area. They have two sons; the elder son, Kshrit, lives in the US. The younger son, Yash, lives with them. All the family members had gone to the US for their son’s convocation ceremony on May 8.
Their driver, Sanjay Zalke, was the caretaker of the house during their absence. On Wednesday, Zalke had his dinner and went to sleep. At around 2 a.m. on Thursday, six robbers entered the premises of the bungalow and, with the help of an iron ladder, entered the house from the balcony. After hearing the noise, Zalke woke up, but the robbers threatened him with a pistol. After searching the entire house, the robbers took away 8 kg of gold, 40 kg of silver, and Rs 70,000 in cash, all amounting to around Rs 8 crore, and fled in a white-coloured car. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
After some time, Zalke came out of the house and informed the neighbours about the robbery. The neighbours then informed the Waluj MIDC police. DCP Nitin Bagate, ACP Sanjay Sanap, PI Rameshwar Gade, PI Rajendra Sahane, PI Dilip Thakur, PI Sandeep Gurme, and others rushed to the spot. The police inspected the spot and took caretaker Zalke into custody.
The dog squad and fingerprint experts were also called. The police have established separate teams to search for the robbers. The process of registering the case with the Waluj MIDC police station was ongoing till late evening.
