MHADA To Launch Lottery For 4,000 Affordable Homes In Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli And Virar By August
Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is set to roll out a new housing lottery offering 4,000 affordable homes within the next three to four months. The upcoming lottery, managed by MHADA’s Konkan Board, will feature flats in key areas including Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, and Virar of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
A senior MHADA official confirmed that preparations are underway to finalize the list of available units. “We are currently in the process of identifying housing stock, including units provided by private developers under mandated schemes,” the official said.
The lottery is expected to be announced by July or August this year, providing a significant opportunity for homebuyers in the extended Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
MHADA’s last lottery under the Konkan Board, held in February, received an overwhelming 24,911 applications for just 2,147 homes. Despite the homes being located outside Mumbai city limits, the response underscored the high demand for affordable housing in the region.
Looking ahead, MHADA has set ambitious targets, planning to construct 32,000 new homes across Maharashtra over the next two years. Of these, 7,000 homes will be located within Mumbai itself.
Additionally, MHADA’s Mumbai Board is preparing a separate lottery expected to be launched within the next five to six months. This lottery will offer around 5,000 homes. The last Mumbai Board lottery, conducted in July last year, drew a staggering 1.29 lakh applications for just 2,030 homes.
MHADA’s ongoing efforts are aimed at fulfilling the housing aspirations of thousands across the state, as the demand for affordable homes continues to rise.
