Bhopal Signal Horror: 2 Unfit School Buses Seized Few Days After An Out-Of-Control School Bus Hit 7 Vehicles On Signal & Killed A Doctor
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal Traffic Police have initiated a strict checking drive across the city after the tragic school bus accident – which claimed the life of a young woman doctor and left 6 people critically injured – DCP Sanjay Singh informed on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Singh said that traffic police are actively involved in this campaign to ensure road safety and maintain traffic discipline. The aim of the drive is to apprehend rule violators and create awareness among drivers and commuters.”
2 unfit school buses seized
While speaking to the media, Singh said, “Traffic police are deployed on at least 20 checkpoints in the city. Apart from school buses, travel buses are also being examined.”
He further added, “Till now, over 450 vehicles have been checked. Out of these the number of school buses remains around 175. The vehicles found with shortcomings were subjected to action. Two of them were seized and are undergoing procedures.”
He added, police are constantly monitoring the traffic and condition of vehicles. In the year 2024, action was taken against as many as 175 ‘unfit’ school buses to maintain the smoothness in daily commute in the city.
Notably, a major road accident took place at Bhopal's Banganga Square on May 12, where an uncontrolled school bus rammed into 8 vehicles standing at the red light. The accident claimed the life of a young female intern doctor and left six others injured, two of them were in critical condition, according to TT Nagar police.
