Al Pacino joins star-studded cast of ‘Maserati: The Brothers’

Veteran actor Al Pacino is all set to join the cast of Maserati: The Brothers, confirmed the film's lead producer, Andrea Iervolino. It tracks a real-life empire’s journey from its inception in 1914 to its emergence as a prestigious car brand, alongside rivals such as Ferrari and Lamborghini in Italy.

Directed by Academy Award winner Bobby Moresco, the film's distinguished cast includes Andy Garcia, Jessica Alba, Anthony Hopkins, Michele Morrone, Gina La Piana, Tatiana Luter and Salvatore Esposito aside from The Godfather actor. Notably, the film reunites Pacino and Garcia after previously working together in Ocean's 13 and The Godfather- Part III.

Pacino will play Vincent Vaccaro, an Italian businessman who played a major role in supporting the Maserati family in its early endeavours and was one of the first investors in the empire.

In the wake of the futurism movement gaining momentum in Italy, Maserati was founded in 1914 by the three brothers Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto. The Trident logo, a significant contribution from Mario, honours the city of Bologna and a fountain nearby with a statue of Neptune holding the same trident.

From its early days, the company dedicated itself to luxury cars and the world of auto racing. They participated in 43 Formula 1 Grand Prix races and accumulated a total of 33 podium finishes between 1950 and 1957.

The film is expected to explore their momentous contributions to the world of auto, also including the tragic story of a high-speed collision that led to the untimely death of Alfieri in 1932.

In a statement, producer Iervolino said that the cast is thrilled about Pacino joining in and stressed that it is an honour to have such a legendary figure join their already incredible cast. Iervolino added that the film is scheduled to premiere worldwide in early fall this year.
