Thane News: Kalyan Crime Branch Busts Irani, Shikalgar Gangs; 4 Held In 29 Offenses Including Dacoity, Chain Snatching Across Multiple Cities
Thane: The Kalyan Crime Branch unearthed 29 offenses and arrested four members of a gang of Irani and a gang of Shikalgar, seizing gold ornaments and a four-wheeler worth over Rs 36 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Wasim Yusuf Ali Sayyed, alias Wasim Kala (30), and Kaushar Yusuf Ali Jafari, alias Bushi (33), both residents of Irani Basti in Ambivli and members of the Irani gang, as well as Shivsing Amrasing Bawari (25) and Poonamsing Amrasing Bawari (37), both residents of Kalyan, who belonged to the Shikalgar gang.
Kalyan's crime branch launched a special campaign to curb chain snatching, housebreaking, and vehicle theft across the city. The police were investigating the cases. Based on a tip-off and with the help of technical intelligence, they laid a trap and apprehended four suspects.
During the preliminary investigation with the accused, they revealed that one dacoity case, twenty chain snatching cases, five motorcycle theft cases, and three house breaking cases were registered across Thane and Navi Mumbai police stations.
During the interrogation, they learned that a total of 29 cases were unearthed and lodged at Rabodi Police Station, Kapurbawadi, Chitalsar, Kalwa Kopari, Mumbra, Shantinagar, Badlapur West, Badlapur East, Ambernath, Kolsewadi, Bazarpeth, Hilline, Kamothe, Kalamboli, Tilak Nagar, and Thane Nagar Police Station against them.
The police said the modus operandi of the Shikalgar gang is that they enter the house intended for theft and dacoity and flee with valuables after assaulting the victim. The gang first get details the area and then executes the offenses. This gang is active in Thane, Mumbai, Pune, and Navi Mumbai.
The police said the accused were produced in court and remanded into police custody for further investigation into the matter.
