Ritika Sajdeh Gets Emotional During "Rohit Sharma Stand" Inauguration At Wankhede Stadium; Video
Emotions ran high at the iconic Wankhede Stadium today as the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) formally unveiled the "Rohit Sharma Stand" in honor of Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma. The ceremony marked a poignant moment not only for the cricketer but also for his family, especially his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, who was visibly emotional during the unveiling.
Ritika, who has stood steadfastly by Rohit's side throughout his illustrious career, teared up as the grandstand bearing her husband's name was officially inaugurated. The event was part of a larger ceremony to unveil four significant new additions at the stadium: the Rohit Sharma Stand, the Sharad Pawar Stand, the Ajit Wadekar Stand, and the MCA Office Lounge. These dedications were made in memory of late MCA President Amol Kale, whose contributions to Mumbai cricket were widely acknowledged.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Sharad Pawar, and prominent members of the cricketing fraternity. Rohit Sharma, a Mumbaikar by heart and one of India’s most decorated cricketers, expressed deep gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him.
Speaking at the ceremony, Rohit said, "I am grateful to have this big honour in front of so many people, especially my family, my mom and dad, my brother, his wife, and my wife, who is also present here. I'm so grateful for whatever they sacrificed for me."
The newly inaugurated stands not only commemorate cricketing legends and administrators but also mark a new era for Wankhede, reinforcing its place as the beating heart of Mumbai cricket. As the sun set over the Arabian Sea, the stadium stood tall, with a new section forever carrying the name of one of India's most beloved cricketing sons—Rohit Sharma.
