Govt agencies procure 3.18 lakh MT of wheat
Government agencies have procured 3,18,523 MT wheat from all 13 grain markets of Yamunanagar district.
Out of this, 3,17,644 MT wheat was lifted from the grain markets till May 15.
During the corresponding period last year, 2,99,207 MT wheat was purchased in the district.
As per available information, 99.72 per cent wheat was lifted from the grain markets till May 15.
As per the records of the District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller, Yamunanagar, 100 per cent wheat was lifted from seven grain markets.
Bilaspur, Jathlana, Kharwan, Radaur, Ranjeetpur, Rasulpur and Yamunanagar grain markets witnessed cent per cent lifting.
Over 99 per cent wheat was lifted from the remaining six grain markets — Chhachhrauli, Gumthala Rao, Jagadhri, Pratap Nagar, Saraswati Nagar and Sadhaura.
An arthiya said it was a major relief for farmers and arthiyas that most of the procured wheat had been lifted from grain markets.
“The responsibility of the procured wheat lies with the arthiyas until it is lifted from the grain market. Farmers get payments only after wheat is lifted from the grain market,” another arthiya said.
Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said wheat procurement was conducted smoothly in all grain markets of the district at Rs 2,425 per quintal, as per the norms set by government procurement agencies.
