Speaking to reporters here, he said that the Chief Minister has assured he would request the Central Government for a special financial package to support affected families.
Wani acknowledged the losses and hardships suffered by residents in the border areas of Poonch, Uri, Tangdar, and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir due to continued shelling. “We have lost precious lives and witnessed massive destruction of houses and businesses. It is our duty to compensate for these losses,” he said.
Wani emphasized that the Chief Minister had personally visited the worst-hit areas to assess the damage on the ground. “He has seen the situation in Uri and other regions himself. The Chief Minister has already assured that he will request the Centre to grant a special package for the reconstruction of homes, shops, and other commercial buildings,” he said, adding that tenants who have also suffered losses would not be left out.
On the ongoing ceasefire, Wani clarified that no official announcement had been made about its duration, but said the situation along the LoC has remained calm in recent days. “We hope it continues to remain peaceful. We are advocates of peace because war brings only destruction, especially for border states,” he said.
Wani dismissed former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s criticism, saying, “She should show political maturity and speak in the interest of Kashmir and the country. Her comments are baseless.”
The Advisor, who recently visited Uri, described the scale of destruction as “miraculous” in terms of survival. “Houses were completely destroyed, yet many people were saved. It is a miracle from God,” he said.
The Government, he reiterated, is committed to ensuring the return of normalcy and rebuilding efforts in the affected regions.
