Janki Bodiwala, best known for her work in Gujarati cinema, made her Hindi film debut in 2024 with Shaitaan, alongside R Madhavan, Ajay Devgn and Jyotika. The film is a remake of the 2023 Gujarati movie Vash, in which she originally played the lead role. In a recent conversation, Janki talked about the intense prep for Vash and how director Krishnadev Yagnik asked her if she could pee for real in the film.

While speaking with Filmfare, Janki Bodiwala said, “I did the Gujarati version, and I had the same scene to perform there. While we were doing workshops, the director, he’s a very good person. He asked me, can you just do it for real? The pee scene. It will make a big impact. And I was so happy about it. Like, whoa! Being an actor, I’m getting a chance to do it on screen. Something that no one has ever done.” As the director believed that peeing for real in the scene would make a big impact, she happily agreed to do it.

However, Janki further said that shooting the scene would not have been ‘practically possible’, so it wasn’t filmed in that way. “So we found a way of doing that. I was happy I get to do things I can’t in real life. And that scene is like literally the favourite scene. And because of that scene, I said yes to that film,” said Janki.

Janki Bodiwala portrays the character of Aarya in Vash. In Shaitaan, she was seen as Janhvi, the daughter of Ajay Devgn and Jyotika’s characters. In the film, Janki’s portrayal fells under the trap of black magic by a mysterious stranger, and her parents try to help her come of out of the possession and reveal the stranger’s hidden motives. When released, Shaitaan became a commercial as well as a critical success, earning praises especially for its compelling star cast performances.
