Breaking News: Congress Questions Selection of Shashi Tharoor to Lead Delegation | ABP NEWS
The Congress party has raised questions over the composition of a crucial delegation sent by the Indian government to various international forums. Initially, Congress had proposed four names—Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Nasir Hussain, and Raja Wadding—for the delegation. However, when the official list was announced, none of these names were included. Instead, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was not originally part of their proposed list, was chosen to lead the delegation. In response, Congress expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s decision, pointing out that the individuals they had nominated were not part of the final delegation. The government is sending multiple delegations to partner nations and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), with Tharoor now at the helm of one of them. Shashi Tharoor, upon receiving the leadership role, expressed gratitude, stating that he would always be ready to serve the country whenever called upon. While the seven-member delegation has now been officially announced, it remains to be seen whether Congress’s suggested names will be included as members of the delegation. This controversy highlights the internal differences within the Congress party regarding representation in key international diplomatic efforts.
