Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia was sexually molested in SC: ‘He Touched My Butt, tried to put hand inside my…’

Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, who is best known for her portrayal of ‘Meher Kaur Dhillon’ in Choti Sardani, opened up about a shocking incident of facing sexual abuse in her past. At the age of 19, while interning as a law student, she had visited the apex court for a hearing. She mentioned that the place was jampacked, and a man who was standing behind her, tried touching her inappropriately. At first, she though it might have happened mistakenly, but she was shocked what happened further.

Nimrit changed her location quickly and moved to another corner of the courtroom. However, the man continued to follow her. She was terrified when he not just touched her butt again, but also tried to put his hand inside her shirt.

In a conversation with Hauterrfly, Nimrit revealed, “I felt someone’s hand on my butt first. I thought I was overthinking it because everyone was in close contact. I looked back, and this guy was looking straight ahead—not making eye contact or even acknowledging my presence. I started getting a little anxious, and thought, okay, let me just change my position. Then, I felt someone touch my hand and it was the same guy again. He had moved from behind along with me, then again he did that to touched my butt. I could feel tears well up in my eyes, I was in such a state of shock.”

Then, a female lawyer at the court observed Nimrit in an uncomfortable state. She firmly took a stand on Nimrit’s behalf, and smacked the man’s face for her behaviour. When chaos erupted within minutes, Police officials were then called and the matter was handed over.

Getting sentimental while talking about it, Nimrit also thanked the female lawyer for supporting her that day. “It’s just that you mentally feel like you’re in a safe space because you’re standing in the Supreme Court—and yet, it still happened,” she added.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Nimrit made her film debut opposite Guru Randhawa, with Shaunki Sardar.
