‘Informing Pakistan At Start Of Attack Was A Crime’: Rahul Gandhi Trains Guns At EAM Jaishankar, Modi Govt

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Modi government, alleging that India committed a “crime” by informing Pakistan before launching an airstrike. He based his criticism on a claim that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had admitted to such communication prior to India’s military action.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that GOI did it. 1. Who authorised it? 2. How many aircraft did our airforce lose as a result?”

Govt Says EAM Jaishankar 'Misquoted' Over Pakistan Remark; Didn't Allege Chinese Satellite Involvement

The remarks came after the government had refuted the allegations. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) clarified that no such admission was made by the External Affairs Minister and described the circulating claims as misleading.

“The social media post falsely implies from External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar’s statement that India informed Pakistan before the start of #OperationSindoor,” the PIB said on X. It shared a screenshot of the original post making the allegation and added, “EAM is being misquoted and he has not made this statement.” The unit urged citizens to “remain vigilant and avoid falling for deceptive information.”

In a separate clarification, the PIB Fact Check Unit also denied reports suggesting that Jaishankar had said Chinese satellites assisted Pakistan during its military confrontation with India. The unit shared a screenshot of a TV channel’s claim and stated, “Several news channels and social media posts have claimed that External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar stated Chinese satellites helped Pakistan.”

The clarifications come amid growing political sparring and circulating misinformation in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. Over 100 terrorists were neutralised in Operation Sindoor strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan.
