Mumbai Local Train Update: Central Railway Announces Mega Block On May 18 From Kalyan To Thane; Check Details

Mumbai: The Central Railway has announced a major block in suburban services on Sunday, May 18, to facilitate essential maintenance activities. The notification was shared on the official DRM Central Railway X (formerly Twitter) handle on May 17.

According to the announcement, train services between Thane and Kalyan will be affected from 10:40 AM to 3:40 PM, while a separate block will be in place on the Wadala–Mankhurd route from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. These blocks are being undertaken to carry out vital infrastructure and maintenance work along these lines.

A block will be operated on both the Up and Down Fast lines from Kalyan to Thane as well as the Up and Down Harbour lines between Wadala Road and Mankhurd stations for maintenance work. Passengers are requested to kindly plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.

Western Railway To Undertake Night Jumbo Block Between Vasai Road And Bhayandar On May 20–21 For Maintenance

The Western Railway has scheduled a Jumbo Block of 3.5 hours for critical maintenance between Vasai Road and Bhayandar during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, i.e., May 20–21, 2025. The block will be in effect from 12:30 AM to 4:00 AM, covering both UP and Down Slow lines.

Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, stated that during this period, slow line trains will operate via fast lines between Virar/Vasai Road and Borivali/Bhayandar. Additionally, some local services on the UP and DOWN routes will be cancelled. Passengers are encouraged to check with the respective station masters for detailed train movement updates.

Slow line train services are to be diverted or cancelled for overnight maintenance between Vasai and Bhayandar. It’s important to note that no daytime blocks are scheduled on the Western Railway suburban section on Sunday, May 18.
