2,600 youth register for Agniveer training
The Ropar district administration has launched an initiative to train the youth of the district willing to join the Army under the Agniveer scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia said under the scheme, the youth who want to opt for Agniveer recruitment would be prepared both for written and physical test by the district administration. The government had floated the scheme, for which already about 2,600 youth from Nangal, Anandpur and Nurpur areas of Ropar district have enrolled for training for Agniveer recruitment, he said.
The Army would hold an examination for Agniveer recruitment on June 29. From May 19, professional coaches and lecturers will prepare the youth at six centres of the district. Six weeks’ training would include preparing students for the written syllabus prescribed during the course and the training to enhance physical capacity would make the candidates successful, the DC said.
Varjeet Walia said the examination of candidates for Army recruitment would be in Punjabi Gurmukhi language. And there is no negative marking. From the current year, online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) is being conducted in 13 languages, including Punjabi. The candidates who qualify the written examination will be given the opportunity to participate in the selection process. In the second phase, the candidates will be called to participate in the physical examination. Typing test for clerk and storekeeper technical will be conducted during the online recruitment, in which during the test, a speed of 30 words per minute in English is required.
