UP Man Kills Wife, Feeds Chopped Body Parts To Fish In Shravasti
A 30-year-old man was arrested by Shravasti police in Uttar Pradesh for the murder of his 27-year-old wife. The man chopped the body of his wife into pieces and disposed of them in a forest area and in a pond to feed the fish.
The accused, Mohammed Saifuddin told the cops during questioning that he was unemployed and his wife, Sakina aka Muqina, would often "pester" him for not making efforts to find a job, reported The Times of India.
On May 13, the couple had a heated argument after which the accused killed her. The couple had got married in 2021.
Sakina Goes Missing
Sakina had been missing since May 13 and Saifuddin also later went missing, Superintendent of Police, Sharavasti, Ghanshyam Prasad said. Saifuddin's elder brother grew suspicious when Saifuddin claimed that he and Sakina had gone to Lucknow for Sakina's treatment.
However, Saifuddin returned alone on May 15 night. Kayyum informed the police after which Saifuddin wad detained and eventually confessed to the crime, the SP said.
The police also found out that the couple had frequent arguments which resulted in physical abuse. Sakina reportedly suffered from a serious illness.
Harassment For Dowry
During interrogation, Saifuddin told the police that he hit Sakin on her head with a stick, chopped the body, and tried to destroy the evidence by burning body parts. He buried some parts of the body in a pit while throwing others in a pond and Saryu canal, the police official added.
Sakina's brother had alleged that Saifuddin would harass her for dowry. "He used to beat her," the brother said, adding that she had complained to her brothers several times. The brother said that they tried to mediate but he kept demanding more dowry, as per Prasad.
Police recovered body parts during the investigation and added additional charges including murder to the existing missing person FIR. Saifuddin has been arrested and charged with murder, destruction of evidence, and dowry-related crimes.
