SP MLA Rais Shaikh Urges Maharashtra Assembly To Condemn Pahalgam Terror Attack, Honour Armed Forces With Resolution

Days after the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack and the successful Operation Sindoor, Samajwadi Party legislator Rais Shaikh from Bhiwandi (East) has urged Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar to pass a special resolution condemning the heinous act. In his letter, MLA Shaikh demanded that the upcoming monsoon session address the barbaric incident and honour the Armed Forces for their swift response.

The Pahalgam attack, carried out on April 22, 2025, by Pakistan and Pakistan-trained terrorists, claimed the lives of 26 innocent Indian tourists and left over 20 others injured. Calling it the deadliest terrorist assault on civilians in India since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, MLA Shaikh emphasized the need for a strong collective response.

In his letter, Rais Shaikh highlighted the nationwide outrage and grief following the brutal assault, noting that citizens from all walks of life and leaders across political lines have united to condemn the act.

“It is a matter of national unity and conscience that the Maharashtra Legislature rise as one to express our collective anguish, resolve, and solidarity, and to commend the Armed Forces for Operation Sindoor,” Shaikh stated. He stressed that the massacre not only targeted innocent lives but also struck at the very spirit of India, urging the House to convey a clear and united message of support for the victims and the nation.

Shaikh proposed that the resolution extend condolences to the bereaved families and affirm support for the injured. It should also strongly denounce the attack as an assault on India’s sovereignty and democratic values, calling upon all Indians to maintain unity in the face of provocation.

Moreover, Shaikh suggested that the resolution honour the bravery of local ponywalas and tourist guides who sacrificed their lives to protect others, reflecting India’s pluralistic and humane ethos. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of acknowledging the Armed Forces for their decisive action during Operation Sindoor, which dismantled the terrorist infrastructure and reaffirmed India’s commitment to combating terrorism.
