CM inaugurates projects worth Rs 20 cr in Rakhigarhi
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has inaugurated three development projects — a rest house, a hostel, and a cafeteria — worth Rs 20 crore at the museum and interpretation centre in Rakhigarhi, a site of the Indus Valley Civilisation.
Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Haryana Heritage and Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma, and Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa were also present. The CM and the Union minister also unveiled a booklet on Rakhigarhi.
The CM said the rest house, cafeteria, and hostel would benefit tourists and students visiting from across the country and abroad.
The 17-room rest house is equipped with modern amenities and the hostel comprises 13 dormitories and a dining hall.
The CM and Union minister also visited the exhibition organised by the Department of Archaeology and Museums. Later, they held a meeting with officers to review the development plan for Rakhigarhi as a tourism centre, and the Union minister issued directions to expedite the construction of the Rakhigarhi Museum and Interpretation Centre.
They emphasised the importance of integrating the museum with the archaeological sites and preparing a detailed plan for lighting, parking, and other tourist facilities.
Shekhawat expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the Haryana Government in developing Rakhigarhi into a major tourism and research hub for archaeologists and historians.
He added that another significant archaeological site in Hisar — Agroha — was currently undergoing excavation.
