Students show keen interest in intra-mediation competition

The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Cell of Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, conducted the 5th Intra-Mediation Competition, 2025, across four intensive slots.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 80 teams from within the university engaging in mediation rounds. The competition served as a robust platform for participants to showcase and refine their mediation, negotiation, problem-solving and creative thinking skills, aligned with the evolving demands of the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution.

This year’s competition revolved around a complex airline dispute proposition, meticulously designed to simulate real-world commercial scenarios. Participants were challenged to find amicable and commercially viable solutions, reflecting the essence of effective dispute resolution.

The competition was adjudicated by distinguished assessors from premier law institutions including Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), National Law University Delhi, Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar, among others. Their expert evaluations and constructive feedback greatly enriched the learning experience, ensuring the continued upholding of the academic and professional standards associated with ADR practices.

In preparation for the event, a comprehensive interactive training session was held a week prior, aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of mediation and equipping them with the necessary tools to effectively apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.

The event forms an integral part of the University’s broader initiative to promote awareness and proficiency in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, with a vision to nurture competent legal professionals capable of making meaningful contributions to the legal landscape.
