WATCH: Abhishek Sharma and Digvesh Rathi clash turns ugly post-match, SRH batter slapped, Rajiv Shukla steps in

New Delhi: A heated confrontation between Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi and Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma overshadowed Lucknow’s playoff-eliminating loss to Hyderabad in the IPL 2025. The conflict continued after the match, prompting intervention from BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla.

Following Abhishek’s dismissal after scoring 59 runs from 20 balls, a heated argument erupted between him and bowler Rathi. Rathi’s customary celebratory gesture after the wicket provoked a strong reaction from Abhishek, leading to a verbal confrontation that required the intervention of umpires and fellow players.

After the match, an altercation occurred between Abhishek and LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya. After a brief conversation during the post-match handshake, Dahiya slapped Abhishek.

Following the match, Rajiv Shukla acted as an intermediary, engaging in conversations with both Abhishek and Rathi.

Following his decisive performance in Sunrisers’ victory over Lucknow, Abhishek clarified a brief on-field disagreement with Rathi, stating that they subsequently resolved the matter amicably.

Speaking after the match in the post-match presentation, “I spoke to him after the game, and it is all good now (on his altercation with Digvesh).”

Abhishek’s explosive 20-ball innings, featuring six sixes and four fours, propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to a six-wicket victory, their fourth of the season.

Abhishek leads Sunrisers Hyderabad in runs this season, accumulating 373 runs across 11 innings at an impressive strike rate of 192.26. His highest score is 141, including one century and two half-centuries.
