Hyderabad Man Bites Off Landlady’s Finger Amid Dispute Over Rs 30,000 Payment

A 26-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly bit off a woman’s finger during a violent altercation over a monetary disagreement in Madhura Nagar. According to police, the incident took place on May 17 following a dispute related to a chit fund transaction. The accused, an employee at a private firm, and his wife were previously tenants at the home of the 45-year-old victim and her daughter.

Though the couple had vacated the property in April, tensions remained over a financial settlement, as per a report on PTI. Police said the house owners had owed the couple Rs 30,000 as part of the chit fund payout. However, they informed the couple that Rs 5,000 would be deducted due to pending rent from a previous occupant known to both parties.

'Portion Of Finger Severed'

Agitated by the deduction, the couple reportedly visited the woman’s residence to confront her. The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, during which the man allegedly bit the woman's finger. A portion of the finger was severed and fell to the ground, police said.

The woman was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Medical staff later informed her that the severed portion of the finger could not be reattached.

Following a formal complaint lodged by the woman’s daughter, the Madhura Nagar police registered a case against both the man and his wife. The accused was subsequently arrested and remanded to judicial custody. An investigation is ongoing.

In another incident, a dispute over installing a bench in a housing society in Thane took a violent turn when an elderly man allegedly bit off his neighbour’s finger. The victim, a 45-year-old man, suffered a severed index finger, including the nail, due to the bite.

The altercation reportedly began as a verbal exchange but quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. During the scuffle, the elderly man hurled abuses and bit his neighbour's finger.

Based on a complaint, the accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
