Pune: PMC Issues Monsoon Health Advisory; Warns Of Waterborne and Mosquito-Borne Disease Spike, Urges Public Vigilance

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a health advisory during the monsoon to prevent any infectious diseases.

The PMC’s Epidemic Control Department has outlined key preventive measures and ongoing preparedness efforts to curb the spread of illnesses common during the rainy months.

PMC conducted extensive training on epidemic control for all medical officers across facilities on May 16. Additionally, all municipal clinics and hospitals have been instructed to maintain adequate stocks of epidemic medicine kits.

The PMC-run Naidu Infectious Diseases Hospital is fully prepared with a 50-bed ward and 24/7 services to handle cases. An Epidemic Control Room has also been set up to ensure quick communication and response. The hospital is equipped to treat symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and respiratory illness. Private practitioners are requested to report cases of infectious diseases like cholera, typhoid, dengue, COVID-19, and H1N1 promptly for timely intervention.

The PMC advisory has been sent regarding waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, gastroenteritis, dysentery, jaundice, and food poisoning. Public awareness campaigns are ongoing to educate citizens about these health risks and necessary precautions.
