Dakota Johnson has once again stepped into the limelight, making headlines for her red carpet glam at the Cannes Film Festival for her film Splitsville. Additionally, the actress has captured attention for her evolving career in the film industry.

During a conversation at the Kerin Women in Motion at Cannes, the 35-year-old actress, accompanied by her TeaTime Pictures producing partner Ro Donnelly, talked about stepping behind the camera. The actress shared her plan to direct a movie based on the script written by actress Vanessa Burghardt, with whom she starred alongside in Cha Cha Real Smooth.

“The girl that plays my daughter—Vanessa Burghardt, she is an autistic actress and musician and brilliant person, and we have been working with her on developing a script,” Johnson said. “She’s written a script, and it’s really special, and it’s about a young woman with autism,” Johnson added.

Johnson’s directorial debut, Loser Baby, a short film, was featured at the TIFF 2024. Written by Talia Bernstein, the movie talks about the life of queer friends who live in Los Angeles, as they navigate through life and get a better understanding of their identity.
