Punjab Opposition Slams CM Bhagwant Mann For Appointing 2 Delhi's AAP Leaders To Key State Posts

Chandigarh: The appointment of two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders of Delhi as the chairpersons of the Boards in Punjab by the ruling AAP government has whipped up a row with all the opposition parties slamming the move.

The chief minister Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government had on Monday appointed 31 persons, mostly AAP leaders, as chairpersons, directors and members in the various state government boards and corporations.

However, they included Reena Gupta, Delhi AAP spokesperson, who has been appointed as the chairperson of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and Deepak Chauhan, also from Delhi, as the chairperson of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board.

Hitting out at the Mann government, leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa took to X to say: ``What a masterstroke by @BhagwantMann. Deepak Chauhan - ex-PA to @AamAadmiParty backroom boss Sandeep Pathak, hailing from UP, is now chairman of Punjab Large Industrial Development Board. No industrial experience? Not Punjabi? Loyalty over merit? And Yes, all perks funded by Punjabis’ hard-earned taxes. Meanwhile, Reena Gupta – another non-Punjabi & former Delhi SEIAA member – is now chairperson of Punjab Pollution Control Board. Nepotism? No no… it’s called Badlav’’. The SEIAA is the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority of Delhi.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sukhbir Badal also said on X: ``Chief Minister @BhagwantMann has again shown that he is ready to sell his conscience and his state to @ArvindKejriwal to remain in his chair. Now he has surrendered two key posts – Chairperson of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) & Chairperson of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board to acolytes of Kejriwal & the matter’s henchman @SandeepPathak04 – Reena Gupta (Advisor to Kejriwal & Secy, Delhi AAP) and Deepak Chauhan (UP based aide of Pathak). Never before in the history of the State have outsiders been handed over all important posts. The intention is clear. The @AamAadmiParty leadership in Delhi wants to loot Punjab’s industry & fill its coffers. Bhagwant Mann has become a willing tool in this systematic policy of plunder’’.

Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar has also assailed the move stating that the Delhi AAP leaders have hijacked the ministries, turning even Punjab ministers into minions.
