8 hurt as car plunges onto house roof in Sainj valley
In a shocking incident in Kanaun village of Sainj valley, a car (HP-49-4255) lost control and plunged onto the roof of a house, injuring eight persons from three different families. The accident occurred around 4:30 pm yesterday, causing panic among villagers and prompting immediate rescue efforts.
The car, returning from a wedding in Kanaun and headed to Suchehan, veered off a sharp curve and fell onto a residential building below. The impact severely damaged the vehicle and caused significant structural damage to the house. Among the injured are three women and two children.
The injured have been identified as Rakesh Kumar and his wife Reema Devi of Manshala, Dharmender Kumar and his sister Rita of Shiyargi, Reena along with her children Nishant and Pranjal Negi of Manshala and Muskan of Suchehan.
Villagers acted quickly, providing first aid and transporting the injured to the Community Health Center in Sainj. Due to the severity of their injuries, all eight were referred to the Regional Hospital in Kullu for advanced treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn. Sainj Naib Tehsildar Heera Lal Nalwa confirmed that a report has been submitted to the administration, and relief efforts are underway.
Kullu Superintendent of Police Kathikeyan Gokulachandran said the accident appears to be caused by driver error, though a detailed investigation is ongoing.
This incident underscores the urgent need for improved road safety measures, especially in hilly areas prone to accidents. Authorities have urged drivers to remain cautious on mountainous routes to avoid such tragic mishaps.
