Bad news for all banks customers, RBI allows to increase these charges…, know what HDFC Bank, SBI, ICICI, PNB are now charging

Since May 2025, ATM charges have been increased by many banks like HDFC, SBI, ICICI, and PNB.The number of free transactions will be the same as earlier but if you withdraw cash more than the limit it will cost more. 

Since May 1, 2025, RBI has revised the ATM cash withdrawal charges in all banks. As per the new guidelines, customers will be charged a maximum of Rs 23 per transaction once they cross their monthly free ATM transaction limit. Earlier this cap was Rs 21. These changes are applicable to all commercial banks, regional rural banks, co-operative banks, and white-label ATM operators. In the majority of banks, free transaction limits  are five at own-bank ATMs, three at other-bank ATMs in metro cities, and five in non-metro cities.

HDFC Bank ATM Charges

HDFC Bank has given five free ATM transactions per month at HDFC Bank ATMs. After this limit exceeds, a fee of Rs 23 plus applicable taxes needs to be given for every additional cash withdrawal. 

Non-financial transactions like checking balance, mini statements, or PIN changes will be free of charge.

SBI ATM Charges

All SBI savings account holders get five free ATM transactions at SBI ATMs every month. As per their average monthly balance (AMB), they will be eligible for more free transactions at other bank ATMs. Like customers with an AMB between Rs 25,000 and Rs 1 lakh get five free transactions at other bank ATMs and those who have balances over Rs 1 lakh can get unlimited free transactions. 

After free limits, SBI will charge Rs 15 plus GST at its own ATMs and Rs 21 plus GST at other bank ATMs.

ICICI Bank ATM Charges

ICICI Bank has also changed its ATM charges as per the RBI’s announcement. The bank gives five free transactions per month including financial and non-financial transactions at ICICI Bank ATMs. After the free limit, customers need to pay Rs 21 for additional financial transactions. For non-financial transactions like balance enquiries charges are Rs 8.50 plus applicable GST per transaction.

IndusInd Bank ATM Charges

Once the free monthly limit is exhausted, IndusInd Bank customers need to pay a fee of Rs 23 per financial transaction at non-IndusInd Bank ATMs. 

PNB (Punjab National Bank) ATM Charges

Punjab National Bank also revised its ATM transaction charges as per RBI’s updated policy. From May 9, 2025, customers will be charged Rs 23 per financial transaction and Rs 11 per non-financial transaction (excluding GST) at other banks’ ATMs after the free limits are exhausted.
