From battlegrounds to binge list: Another game adaptation announced by Netflix

Clash alert! Netflix has officially announced the making of an animated series based on Supercell’s wildly popular games Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. Currently in pre-production, the series will depict the gritty venture of a brave but hilariously overwhelmed Barbarian and his toil to unite a band of misfit warriors to defend his village, all while navigating the comically absurd politics of war.

The showrunner leading the troop behind the scenes is Fletcher Moules, the mastermind behind the original Clash animated shorts that have earned millions of views on YouTube. This isn’t his first rodeo, Moules has also worked on Netflix hits like Entergalactic and Agent Elvis. Joining him is the ultimate comedy writing veteran Ron Weiner. Animation duties are being handled by Vancouver-based ICON Creative Studio.

This series is said to be a full-blown expansion of the Clash universe. “Clash has been a global gaming phenomenon for over a decade — filled with humor, action, and unforgettable characters perfect for an animated series adaptation,” said John Derderian, Netflix’s VP of Animation Series. “We can’t wait for fans — old and new — to experience the mayhem.”

Supercell’s Curtis Lelash, head of film and TV, also echoed the excitement, remarking, “Think epic battles, immaculate Barbarian mustaches, and the kind of humor our players know and love. They’ve been asking for a Clash series forever, and we’re beyond excited to finally say: it’s happening!”

While we don’t have a release date just yet, one thing’s for sure: This series promises to bring the wacky, explosive, and wonderfully chaotic world of Clash to life. This marks another big step in Netflix’s ongoing conquest of video game adaptations. From The Witcher to Arcane to Castlevania, the platform has been going full Hog Rider on bringing digital worlds to life.

So, better clear your Netflix queue, as the battle for binge supremacy is about to unleash.
