Eid Al Adha: Holiday announced in UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi. Details here

Most nations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have announced the holidays for Eid Al Adha based on astronomical calculations. Though the dates are usually based on astronomical predictions, the final dates will become officially clear only after the official moon sighting.

UAE

As per the UAE officials, the holidays in the Emirates will fall on Friday, June 6. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Board of Directors at the Emirates Astronomical Society, said that May 28 is likely to mark the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah. Therefore, Eid Al Adha is likely to fall on Friday, June 6, according to The Gulf News. Arafat Day in the UAE is likely to occur on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Qatar

Qatar also announced a five-day holiday for Eid Al Adha this year. The public holiday will begin on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah. In Qatar, the moon-sighting committee will meet on May 27. If the crescent moon is sighted on that day, Dhul Hijjah will begin on May 28 or else on May 29. If the moon is not sighted, Dhul Hijjah will begin on May 29. The official holidays in Qatar will be from the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah to the end of the 13th day of Dhul Hijjah, but it may change as per moon sighting, according to the Khaleej Times.

Kuwait

The festivals will be observed in Kuwait on June 6, according to astronomical projections by the Al Ojairi Scientific Centre, which said the crescent marking the start of Dhu Al Hijjah will be born at dawn on May 27. The crescent is expected to be visible over Kuwait’s horizon for 43 minutes after sunset on May 28, according to Kuwait News Agency. The holidays will be on June 5 to 9.

Saudi

Eid al-Adha is expected to begin on Friday, June 6 with Arafat Day commencing a day earlier on June 5, according to astronomical calculations.
