OCCL Celebrates 63rd Foundation Day with Visionary Workshop at World Skill Centre

Bhubaneswar: The 63rd Foundation Day, the Odisha Construction Corporation Ltd. (OCCL) hosted alongwith a significant and interactive workshop on “Vision OCCL @ 2036 and Vision OCCL @ 2047” at the World Skill Centre in Bhubaneswar. The event, presided over by Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary to Government and Chairperson of OCCL, marked a pivotal moment for the organization as it reflected on its rich history and charted a dynamic course for the future.
Graced as the Chief Guest of the occasion, DC cum ACS and Chairperson, OCCL, lauded the entire OCCL team for their accomplishments.
In her address, she outlined strategic advice for the corporation’s future. Smt. Garg emphasized the need to integrate mechanical experts in niche areas of the organization’s operations. She stressed the importance of improvising the quality of work to achieve a national footprint, in comparison to other neighboring states. She added that the commitment of quality of work of OCCL has been instrumental in making self-sustainable through infrastructure projects from various departments within Odisha and beyond, in addition to its core work with the parent Water Resources Department.
Er. Bibhuti Bhusan Dash, Managing Director of OCCL, commenced the proceedings with a comprehensive presentation highlighting the remarkable journey and substantial achievements of the organization since its inception in 1962. He underscored OCCL’s consistent success and its integral role in the development of Odisha’s infrastructure.
The workshop served as a crucible for envisioning a progressive and reformed future for OCCL, aiming for an outstanding national presence in the years to come. It featured insightful presentations from a panel of distinguished experts, including Dr. C.S. Padhi, Engineer-in-Chief (EIC), Water Resources (WR), Er. Ashok Basa, Vice-President, World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO),Er. Asim Ku. Mohapatra, Ex-Managing Director, OCCL, Er. Bibhuti Bhusan Biswal, Vice-Chancellor, Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR),Prof. Sarat Panda, IIT, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Bharati Mishra, Professor in Computer Science, IIIT, Bhubaneswar and others.
A vibrant brainstorming session also followed the expert presentations further fostering active participation from officials of the Department of Water Resources (DoWR), including EICs, Chief Engineers (CEs), and Additional Chief Engineers (ACEs), alongwith members of OCCL and other visionary dignitaries. The discussions centered on shaping the prospective vision of OCCL, ensuring a judicious path towards sustained achievement and enhanced status.
The 63rd Foundation Day workshop has set a clear and ambitious direction for OCCL, reinforcing its commitment to excellence, innovation, and becoming a leading construction entity on the national stage.
Founded in 1962, OCCL is a Government of Odisha undertaking that has been a pioneering force in the State’s infrastructure development. For over six decades, OCCL has successfully executed a wide array of projects, including irrigation, power, industrial, road, and building infrastructure, contributing significantly to the progress and prosperity of Odisha.
