Vat Savitri Vrat 2025: Vat Savitri Vrat holds special significance for married Hindu women, especially those seeking long life, prosperity, and well-being for their husbands. Observed with deep faith and devotion, this fast is performed annually on the Amavasya (new moon day) of the Jyeshtha month, as per the Hindu Panchang. This year, Vat Savitri Vrat will be observed on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Vat Savitri Vrat: Step-by-Step Puja Vidhi

On the day of the vrat, women wake up early, take a bath, and dress in new sarees. Lighting a lamp in the home temple, they take a vow to observe the fast with devotion. All puja items should be arranged in a basket.

Women then visit a Banyan (Vat) tree for the rituals. If a Banyan tree is not accessible nearby, a twig planted in a pot at home can serve the purpose.

The puja begins by offering water to the roots of the Banyan tree. Next, place the picture or idol of Savitri and Satyavan near the tree. Offer kumkum, sindoor, flowers, fruits, sweets, and traditional marital items. Wrap the sacred thread around the tree and perform seven circumambulations (parikrama).

Afterward, women sit beneath the tree to read or listen to the Vat Savitri Vrat Katha, narrating the tale of Savitri’s devotion and her triumph over death. The puja concludes with aarti and prayers for a prosperous married life.
