Reports indicate that the child had been playing outside her home with her 13-year-old cousin when Sanjay arrived and suddenly took her away. He reportedly led Lemoria to his residence, situated approximately 50 to 100 meters away, where he used a knife found inside to carry out the brutal act, as per a report on India Today. He then allegedly walked off with the severed head and threw it into a pond in the vicinity.
The child's cousin, shocked by the incident, immediately informed other family members, who contacted the authorities. Police teams responded swiftly, recovered Lemoria’s remains, and transported the body to the Paramakudi Government Hospital for a postmortem examination, reported India Today.
The police launched a search operation to track down Sanjay, who was located and taken into custody by the afternoon. Investigators are now questioning him to determine his motives and mental condition at the time of the crime.
