Dr. K.B. Patil appointed to ICAR-NRCB Centre Committee in Trichy

Jain Irrigation's international banana expert and Vice-President Dr. K.B. Patil has recently been appointed to the Research Advisory Committee of the National Research Centre for Banana in Trichy (Tiruchirappalli). This appointment will be for a period of three years. His knowledge and experience are expected to significantly contribute to give a new direction to research in banana. Jain Irrigation Chairman Ashok Jain and Joint Managing Director Ajit Jain have congratulated him on his appointment.

Dr. K.B. Patil’s Extensive Experience in Banana Cultivation

Dr. K. B. Patil of Jalgaon has been actively involved in the development of banana cultivation for the past thirty years. Through extensive research on banana production technology and the use of Jain Tissue Culture, he has brought about a revolution in banana farming. He has worked for three decades on pre-harvest and post-harvest handling as well as export strategies, significantly boosting banana exports.

Dr. Patil has pioneered several technologies in India for banana cultivation, including raised bed (gadi vafa) planting, mulching, the use of phosphoric acid, year-round fertigation, and a balanced nutrient application of 200g nitrogen, 70g phosphorus, and 400g potash per plant. He also developed the "Fruit Care" method, marking several firsts in the country.

Dr. K.B. Patil has played a key role in popularizing the Jain Tissue Culture variety "Grand Naine" banana across the country. He has visited all major banana-producing countries in the world and conducted in-depth studies of their practices. He has successfully brought cutting-edge banana cultivation technology to grassroots-level farmers. Recognizing his extensive knowledge and vast experience in banana farming, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, has appointed Dr. K.B. Patil to the Research Advisory Committee.
