Along with Ramanand Sagar’s TV serial ‘Ramayan‘, people remember his other serial ‘Krishna‘, which was a huge hit. This serial, which came in the 90s, made every actor immortal in their characters forever. Swapnil Joshi and Sarvadaman D. Banerjee played Lord Krishna, Pinky Parikh played Rukmini and Lakshmi, and Reshma Modi played Radharani.

There was one more character, Krishna’s elder brother Balrama, who was played by actor Deepak Dewoolkar. He has worked in many Hindi and Marathi serials and is still working, but he got popularity only from ‘Krishna’. People identify him as Balrma only even today.

Very few people know that Deepak Dewoolkar was a cricketer before becoming an actor. He was a top spinner and played in Mumbai’s Under-19 cricket team. But an accident ruined his cricket career. Dewoolkar has now ventured into direction along with acting. He is currently working in Marathi TV serials and directs films as well as music videos. He is married to well-known Hindi and Marathi star Nishigandha Wad, who has been a part of Bollywood movies like Wazir, Race 3 and Shaapit. Wad is also a popular TV face. Her recent work was seen in Suman Indori serial as Geetanjali Mittal. She was also in Sasural Simar Ka, Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein, Savitri Devi College & Hospital, Rabb Se Hai Dua, to name a few.

Coming back to Deepak, he is also a script writer and has written the story of a film named Saad. He is also the head of Marathi music channel Sangeet Marathi. Apart from this, he also worked as CCO in a company named ‘Strawberry Productions Private Limited’.
