‘The Devil Wear Prada 2’ set for a 2026 release, but will the original cast return?

The release date of the highly anticipated sequel of The Devil Wears Prada has been announced and fans are in a frenzy. According to Variety, Disney has set its release for May 1, 2026. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see beloved characters Miranda Priestly and Andrea Sachs back on the screen, though neither of the actors, Meryl Streep nor Anne Hathaway, has confirmed their return in the upcoming sequel to the 2006 classic.

But what could be counted as a little solace to their unwavering hope is a statement Stanley Tucci, who played art director Nigel Kipling in the original flick, gave the American outlet, where he said, “I know they’re working on it. If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information. Otherwise, I’ll go to the actor’s prison or something. [The original] was one of the best experiences ever.”

The Devil Wears Prada is a film adaptation of a novel of the same title, based on the personal experiences of the author, Lauren Weisberger, while she was working under Vogue editor Anna Wintour, as her personal assistant. The movie follows Anne Hathaway playing the role of Andrea Sachs, a journalism graduate, whose fashion knowledge is minimal to none, who lands a job as the co-personal assistant to Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep), a stone-cold and indifferent fashion queen and the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine.
