Release arrears, demand PU pensioners

The Panjab University Pensioner’s Welfare Association has demanded the release of revised arrears (from 2016) and the revised gratuity. “The revised arrear and gratuity from 2016 were paid to all teaching and non-teaching employees of the university, but the same had not been released for pensioners. This is a clear case of stepmotherly treatment with the pensioners of the Panjab University,” said Tilak Raj Wadhwa, president of the association.

Moreover the leave travel allowance (LTA) for the block period 2020-22 and 2022-24 has also not been paid to the pensioners, he claimed.

“The 2 per cent instalment of DA was included in the salary of the teaching and non-teaching employees, but the same was not included in the pension of the pensioners. We have written so many letters to the Vice-Chancellor, but still no action has been taken. There are about 3,000 pensioners of the university and there is no grievances cell working in the university, whereas in all government departments there is a provision of pensioners’ grievances cell,” he claimed further.
