Top Ulfa (I) commander in police net

In a significant breakthrough, Rupam Asom, a top commander of the banned Ulfa (Independent), was apprehended in the Lekhapani forests of Tinsukia, Assam. Asom, implicated in numerous attacks including the 2018 murder of a police officer, faces serious charges. Authorities seized a firearm and are continuing search operations to apprehend remaining members of his group.
