Newlywed Woman Dies by Suicide, Names Husband And In-Laws in Final Video
A 23-year-old woman from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, ended her life just four months after getting married. Before taking the extreme step, she recorded a video on her phone, directly accusing her husband and in-laws of persistent harassment that she claimed drove her to suicide.
Identified as Amreen Jahan, the young woman had entered a love marriage, reported NDTV. While her husband works as a welder in Bengaluru, Amreen had been living with his family in Moradabad since their wedding. In the video, Amreen detailed the abuse she faced after suffering a miscarriage. She said she was overwhelmed by how she was treated at home and named her father-in-law Shahid, and sister-in-law, Khatija, among those responsible for her deteriorating mental health.
"Sometimes they tell me something about my food habits, sometimes they disconnect the power supply to my room. My sister-in-law, Khatija, my father-in-law Shahid are responsible for my death. My husband is also partly responsible. He doesn't understand me. He thinks everything is my fault. His father and sister keep whispering into his ears. I can't tolerate anymore," Amreen said in the video.

In the video, Amreen also claimed that her husband and in-laws made derogatory comments and repeatedly suggested she should take her own life. "My husband asks me, 'Why don't you die?' My sister-in-law and father-in-law say the same thing," she stated.
Amreen further revealed that her in-laws criticised her over money spent during her illness. "They asked me to return the money they spent. How will I do that? If my husband had so much money, would he ask you for a loan? My husband is in Bengaluru. My father-in-law and sister-in-law live here," she said. Her final words captured on camera were haunting: "I don't know what will happen when I die, but I will be better off than I am now."
Following the incident, police have sent Amreen’s body for a post-mortem. Her father, Salim, has filed a formal complaint. He shared that his daughter had called him the previous day in tears, alleging that she was being assaulted and pleading with him to rescue her. Salim rushed to her residence but tragically arrived to find her already dead. Authorities have said they are acting on the basis of Salim's complaint and are proceeding with the investigation.
