Rs 15,000-crore RRTS to link Gurugram, Faridabad with Noida, Greater Noida
In a major push to regional connectivity, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has proposed a Rs 15,000-crore Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) rail project that will link Gurugram and Greater Noida, passing through Faridabad and Noida.
The new RRTS corridor is expected to significantly improve inter-city connectivity across NCR and provide a faster, more efficient public transport alternative. The proposed line will also connect with the ongoing Ghaziabad–Jewar Airport Namo Bharat corridor, further integrating key transit hubs in the region.
In a formal communication to the Haryana Government, the NCRTC has sought approval for the route alignment and permission to begin preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The proposed corridor will span approximately 60 km and is projected to operate independently of existing or under-construction RRTS corridors like the Delhi-Gurugram and Delhi–SNB (Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror) projects.
“Before initiation of DPR work, MoHUA has also desired formal approval of stakeholders on the route alignment of Namo Bharat (RRTS) corridor at the earliest. Since the majority of the proposed alignment passes through the state of Haryana, it is therefore requested that the attached Namo Bharat alignment may be reviewed, and suitable approval may be provided to initiate the work of preparation of DPR,” said a letter sent by the NCRTC to Haryana Government.
Proposed stations and alignment
As per the proposal, six stations are planned along the new RRTS corridor. In Gurugram, the first station is proposed near IFFCO Chowk at Sector 29, with the line continuing along the Golf Course Road before entering Faridabad. In Faridabad, stations are proposed at Bata Chowk and Sector 85-86 intersection.
The corridor then proceeds to Noida, with a station planned at the Sector 142-168 intersection, and continues to Surajpur in Greater Noida, where it will merge with the Ghaziabad-Jewar airport corridor.
The NCRTC has also suggested the formation of a monitoring committee by the Haryana Government comprising officials from relevant state, district, and local departments. This committee would facilitate fast and effective decision-making during the planning and execution of the project.
Independent from existing RRTS lines
According to NCRTC, this proposed corridor will function independently of other operational or planned lines, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity without overlap or congestion.
The alignment is expected to pass through densely populated and high-traffic zones, where rapid transit solutions are urgently needed to reduce vehicular congestion, cut travel time, and improve air quality in the NCR.
The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) has been asked to examine and approve the alignment swiftly to enable further project planning.
