Namdhari community honours Sirsa varsity VC

A delegation from the Namdhari community visited Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) in Sirsa on Saturday to honour Vice-Chancellor Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi. The community expressed gratitude to him for naming the university’s multipurpose hall as the Satguru Ram Singh Auditorium.

The auditorium was recently named after Satguru Ram Singh as a tribute, who was the 12th spiritual head of the Namdhari sect and a key figure in early anti-British resistance. During their visit, the Namdhari representatives thanked the Vice-Chancellor, saying the decision was a matter of pride for the community and had been made possible due to his efforts.

Bishnoi said Satguru Ram Singh was a pioneer in India’s freedom movement and a strong voice for social change and self-reliance. He said the auditorium would help inspire students by keeping alive the legacy of such great personalities.

Community leaders, including Suba Baljeet Singh, Dr. Heera Singh Gandhi, Jaspal Singh, and Master Sukhdev Singh of the Mata Chand Kaur Welfare and Justice Committee were present. Educationist Palwinder Singh and several other devotees also joined the event.

Speakers said this recognition would help spread Satguru Ram Singh’s ideals of discipline, patriotism and social justice to the younger generation.
