World backed India’s right to self-defence: Khurshid in Seoul
Former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Sunday said after the Pahalgam terror attack, the world echoed India’s narrative of the right to self-defence and this was a major success.
Addressing the Indian diaspora in South Korea, Khurshid said after Operation Sindoor, the message to the world was clear.
“The message is — India is now in a different league. We are seen as a top country in the world. We have emerged beyond Japan as the fourth largest economy and this is something we will protect. We will not let anyone distract us from this purpose. We need to protect ourselves and yet show the world we are responsible. We do not do things to hurt anyone, but to defend ourselves,” said Congress veteran Khurshid.
He said the world acknowledged India’s right to self-defence.
“This was a major success of our narrative. Also, the fact is that a very limited number of countries stood by Pakistan and many others stood by us. We calibrated our response. We did what was necessary. We attacked with precision. They attacked us back. So we neutralised the platforms they used to attack us. We stopped when they stopped,” he added.
BJP’s Aparajita Sarangi, also in the same delegation, said today’s India believed in the policy of “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”.
“This message has to go to Pakistan and all countries of the world,” she said, asking the Indian community in Seoul to send the government’s message of zero tolerance for terrorism all over.
She said “today’s India has made it clear that the security of 140 crore people is absolutely important and there can be no compromise with it”.
Elaborating on the reasons behind the Pahalgam attack, Sarangi said “it happened because India is doing extremely well in all spheres”.
“There is peace and progress and this made someone living nearby very uncomfortable. We are the fourth largest economy and very soon we will overtake Germany. We are the fastest growing. Someone is very jealous,” she added.
